3 most common spirits used in cocktail

Cocktail also commonly known as an alcoholic mixed drink, consist of spirits with other mixed ingredients such as fruit juice or cream. Cocktail mainly a beverage with at least more than 3 different flavours, with one main content which is alcohol. Normally it must contain alcohol, a sugar, and a bitter or citrus.

If a mixed drinks consist of only distilled spirits and a mixer, such as soda or fruit juice, it is also known as highball. Most of the official cocktail from the international bartenders association are highballs. When mixed drinks contain only distilled spirits and liqueur, also known as a duo and if a mixer added into it is a trio. These are the 3 commonly used spirits in a cocktail which is gin, rum, and tequila.

1) Gin

Gin is a liquor, where the main flavor of this spirit comes from juniper berries. Gin has one of the widest range in the category for spirits, in term of origins, style and flavour profile with one common ingredient which is the juniper. The common brands are sambuca vaccari, hendrick’s gin, and tanqueray. Singapore Slings and gin and tonic are some famous gin cocktail.

2) Rum

Rum is created from sugarcane byproduct, such as molasses and turns it into a distilled alcoholic drink. Sugarcane juice can also be used to create rum in a fermentation and distillation process. Through the distillation, the clear liquid is then aged in an oak barrel. Some common cocktail by rum is pina colada and mojito. Commonly used rum in cocktails are bacardi carta blanca rum also know as superior white rum, and sailor jerry spiced vanilla rum.

3) Tequila

Tequila is made from a plant called blue agave, is a regional distilled beverage. Tequila is also a type of mezcal, is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from any type of agave, apart from differences in the region of origin. The distinction is that tequila must use only blue agave plants rather than any type of agave plants. In mexico, tequila is served neat as a shot with salt, in some county lime is served together as well. Margaritas and tequila sunrise is some of the well-known cocktails. You can use jose cuervo gold tequila or patron silver tequila.
